On May 1, 1993, Greg Iles published his first book – Spandau Phoenix. This was the first of two books set during World War Two, before he started to write other types of novels, many of which were based in Mississippi – the state where he grew up.
His stories started achieving great success, with several making it on to the New York Times bestsellers list and selling more than 10 million copies in the process.
On March 7, 2011, Iles was in a car crash that almost cost him his life, but he returned in 2014 with Natchez Burning – a novel he’d been working on prior to the accident.
